Products I've used up- May Edition

It's the end of another month and that calls for the standard empties post.

St. Moriz Dark instant self tanning mousse- I've been using this weekly and had already repurchased another bottle when I was running low. Considering this does a great job and is a fraction of the price of other popular tanners I guess this will be my staple this summer.

Zara candle in Jardin D'Ete. This scent was lovely and the throw was great. It was however a limited edition hence why the actual packing is different than their standard range. I'll be keeping the jar!

Kusmi Detox tea. One of my favorites when it comes to tea. I've only just purchased this one and it's already gone.

Liz Earle Brightening Treatment Mask. Lovely mask to use for a quick fix. This one only takes 2 minutes! I personally tend to grab deep cleansing masks more often than any other mask so having this one in the small size was fantastic.

The Body Shop  Japanese Cherry Blossom shower gel. One of my favorites shower gels from the store. This one was part of a gift set but I did use up a couple of bottles of this scent in the past and wouldn't mind going for it again.

The Body Shop Papaya shower gel. Nice smell for the summer months but this one didn't make it into my favorites
Benefit They're Real Mascara. This one is my holy grail. I've repurchased already and don't intend to switch any time soon. Lush lashes without any smudging and clumpiness and what's best, it doesn't irritate my eyes one bit.

Sharing my French favorites

1. Delicacy: The classic pain au chocolat served piping hot

2. Perfume: Serge Lutens Gris Clair. This has been love at first sniff. What this perfume house is able to render is astounding.

3. Spots: I've had the opportunity to visit Yvoire and I enjoyed it as much as I thought I would. It feels like you've walked into another world. Enchanting and quiet, this quintessential french medieval spot in the south-east of France is certainly one of my favorites. Paris is then a more obvious choice. Albeit not a fan of the myriads of tourist flooding the city, a visit to Versailles will always be highly recommended. If the grandiose chandeliers and history just aren't enough, the majestic gardens will surely tickle your fancy.

4. Beauty: Nuxe skincare. As mentioned in my previous posts and videos I've taken a liking to this brand. Prices are accessible and the products deliver. L'Occitane hand creams are always a long time favorite. With an ample choice in scent and a superb quality product this one's a winner.

5. Tea House: Laduree. This one's was my favorite since my first visit years ago in London. Whether its having tea and a quick bite or just getting macaroons off the counter this place is always a pleasure to visit. Apart from having tasty macaroons you can also enjoy collecting the keepsakes you may buy them in. These are probably the only boxes I will never toss out.

6. Tea: Kusmi Tea. The Detox blend is my favorite followed closely by Green Boquet.

7. Lingerie: Simone Perele. Beautiful quality pieces that make my love for lingerie grow fonder.

8. Music: Putumayo Presents: French Cafe. Incidentally I got this from Versailles and have played this one countless times. It delivers what it says, French Cafe music you'd imagine being played in cafe's in Paris.
Carla Bruni: Quelqu'un m'a dit is my absolute favorite. I could listen for hours. Love
When the mood for iconic classic french songs hit my choice is Edith Piaf.

9. French women themed books: Two lipsticks and a lover by Helena Frith Powell. French women don't get fat by Mireille Giuliano. Frivolous and to be taken with a pinch of salt, these enjoyable light reads are the stereotypical french themed literature one expects. I've taken a liking to author Jennifer L. Scott. She provides her own tips to living the 'French way' as she recounts her personal experience in France.

Love, Want, Need- May Picks

Now that finally Spring is in full swing and the flowers are blooming and the heat can be slightly felt, the excitement for a seasonal change is truly hitting home.

1. Jo Malone Plum Blossom & Sakura Cherry Blossom from the Blue Skies and Blossoms collection. I got to smell the three new perfumes and these two take the cake. Perfect for the Spring the two are just divine.

2. Beauty at Home: Aerin Lauder. I adore this women! I recently got to have a look at this book and have a chat with the SA about it and I instantly loved it.

3. The trouble with Kendra Scott's earrings is which ones to pick? The shades are endless and oh so pretty. I have my eyes set on the Danielle in Rose Quartz and the Alexandra in Chalcedony.

4. Now that I'm running dangerously low on my current Voluspa I set my eyes on some new ones. The Maison Jardin collection is fantastic. This one, Amaranth and Jasmine, is my favorite out of the bunch.

5.When I spent a short while in Milan I noted that it's been the only country I visited where every restaurant provided me with a purse hook, for God forbid one puts her bag on the floor. Kidding aside it got me thinking that I should start carrying one. Trouble is all the ones I found online seemed to be, well, atrocious looking. If you're investing in a purse might as well get a pretty hook. After trying to hunt down a nice one it came as no surprise that the only one I liked was made by one of my all time favorites brands, Alessi. The Minou is smaller than one imagines and fits neatly in any purse. Also available is the Jumbo. And don't let the latter's name fool you. It's a practical small size too.

6. The latest Nars Luminous Weightless Foundation has been released just a short while ago. I'm almost out of my trusted Sheer Glow which I've repurchased several times and the hype about this foundation got me thinking I should try this one next. And the pump is a plus...Maybe this will be my next HG, no?

7. Dresses in general. This one, by French Connection caught my eye. I love the brand, the print and the fit as well as the fact that it can be dressed both up or down.

8. The Sarah in Vernis had originally caught my eye years ago, but now it's been released in this colour, Griotte, the radar's beeping again. Gorgeous!

9. Seriously, this print is everything. If I were to be a print, this would be me. This is the Dolce & Gabbana Escape bag is perfection.

Products I've used up- April Edition

I was away for a while last month and when I got back home I was really sick so the items I used up during April are mainly scents.

1. Ecoya diffuser in Lotus Flower This was the first diffuser we got for this apartment shortly after we arrived in Geneva and started to settle in. Up till this month there was still  a third of the bottle left, for I didn't really use this up but rather knocked it over and broke the jar. The only positive thing to this is that the house smelled even more wonderful for a whole day. I loved this scent and even though this wasn't cheap it takes months before it gets used all up.

2. The Body Shop Lychee Blossom Shower Gel. Loved this scent, it was perfect for Spring. If I do see it in store again I would certainly pick it up again.

3. Korres Shower Gel in Jasmine. I've gone through several bottles of Korres shower gels throughout the years, in particular, this scent has always been one of my favorites. It smells lovely and lathers up nicely too.

4. Yankee Candle Lavender. I like lavender in general so I was keen to pick this one up. The scent wasn't as enveloping and relaxing as I was expecting though. At times I would get a kind of detergent smell. I remember I did love Yankee's Lemon and Lavender though.

5. Yankee Candle tarts & samplers in :

Sweet Strawberries. Although I'm not keen on sweet scents this was quite a pleasure to burn. I wouldn't buy a jar in this scent though as it would be too much for me.
Baby powder. While I normally like the smell of talc the scent in candle form was way overboard for me and was looking forward to use it all up.

Berrylicious. One of the newer collections. I quite liked burning this in the kitchen. It was sweet but not overly sweet.

Midsummer's night. This one's heavy and not something I normally go for. It reminded me of men's cologne. I did enjoy it though as it made a great change from my usual floral scents.

6. Historiae- Hameau de la Reine (Marie Antoinette). The concept put forward by this brand is to recreate scents based on particular places and periods in history. Concepts as such get me intrigued. The diffuser I picked up was supposed to be based on what Marie Antoinette's settlement in Versailles would have smelled like. The scent is floral yet musky and slightly woody. I truly enjoyed this one, even more so when I decided to remove it from the living and place it on my nightstand instead. I'd turn in bed and catch a whiff of the scent and it made me content. I'd definitely look into this brand.
