#travel: Montreux Christmas Market

I got to spend a few hours at the Christmas market in Montreux. The market stands range from ones selling loose leaf tea, herbs and spices, hand crafted goods, food and obviously freshly brewed mulled wine. There's several activities taking place in the area, but alas, the one thing I was intrigued about, the ferris wheel, was a miss as it was just too foggy to try and enjoy.

#Travel: Yvoire and Evian les Bains

I recently went  exploring Yvoire and Evian les Bains and had a terrific time. Yvoire was everything I had hoped it would be, a quaint medieval town with remarkable views. I can't wait to return there, even if it's just for a quick stop.

Evian les Bains boasts spectacular views of the lake and is the epitome of serenity.

Product Empties- November Edition

1. La Roche Posay Serozinc- This spray gets lots of love in the beauty blogging fora but as I said before it didn't impress me as much. Nonetheless its one of those products that is practical to have. It's really cheap and makes do as a toner, especially when I want to switch it up a bit.

2. The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea body wahs- this range is one of my all time favorites from TBS. The scent is pleasant and does the job.

3. Klorane Mango Butter Shampoo- Like the conditioner, this shampoo has been great. It smells lovely and  makes the hair soft.

4. Lierac Tonique Eclat- This is hands down my favorite toner. Soothing, refreshing and gets that little bit of makeup left over. Backups please!

5. Liz Earle EyeBright Soothing Eye Lotion- I've reviewed this product here.

6. Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturizer- I've gone through several of these over the years. This is the kind of moisturizer that does its job. It's hydrating, non greasy and last quite a while too.

7. Esteban Smokeless Incense Sticks in Cedre- This is part of the Esteban for Nature et Decouvert range. While the scent is really particular and pleasant these burn up incredibly fast.

8. The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Lotion- This is non invasive floral scent that lingers on for a while. It's fresh and mildly hydrating and over all a nice lotion for normal skin.

9. L'Occitane Roses et Reines Hand Cream- This is my favorite hand cream from L'Occitane, both in terms of scent and texture. It is not greasy and only takes a short while to be absorbed.

10. Nioxin Intensive Treatment Deep Repair Masque- I've been using this one for years and am only just now letting go of this one, solely because I want to branch out to other brands. This is a non weighing hair treatment that leaves the hair nourished and silky smooth.

11. Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry- yet another lovely product. Apart from being a great product in itself, the fact it has a spray nozzle is highly practical. I will repurchase as soon as I'm done with the ones I'm using right now.

12. Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser- This is another product that I've used for a long time now and which I always seem to have backups of, also in practical mini sizes for travel. This cleanse up the skin well without making it feel dry.

13. Liz Earle /nourishing Botanical Body Cream- This lotion smells lovely due to having rose scented geranium and sweet orange essential oils however it takes a while to be absorbed and that is just not too practical for me.

Louis Vuitton Multicles 6 Damier Azur

 photo gcpblogmulticles2.jpg

A while ago I picked up this key holder and took my purse organization a step further. Now those keys are safely tucked away in their own little pouch, preventing scrathes and also making finding them little easier. I've always loved the Damier Azur canvas but normally shy away from it due to the patina on the vachetta. Since the latter is non existent in this slg this got me even more interested.

This time round I also opted to have my initials hot stamped on in gold. The service is free and took only one working day worth of wait. After using this one for a while now, here's my thoughts about it.

#travel: Trip to Annecy

Just a while ago I ventured off to the medieval town of Annecy in France. I tried to vlog a bit but I have to admit I was more focused on enjoying the trip. The town is spectacular and I can't wait to revisit. The canals, the cobbled streets and the little houses alone make the trip worthwhile. The Chateau and alpine landscape are the cherry on the cake.

How to Improve your Savvy Shopper Skills

With Black Friday only a day away and the holiday season madness just around the corner, shopping can become quite a fuss and shopping blunders are more liable to occur, ending up literally costing us quite a bit. Here's a few pointers to keep in mind.

1. Quality Reigns Supreme

Do not waiver standards for impulse purchases. Keep in mind quality will always supersede quantity. Watch out for quality garments that will be worth the investment in the long run.

2. Look out for classic and neutral pieces

Investing in classic pieces in neutral shades will ultimately get you more bang for your buck. Classic pieces will lay out the foundation for your wardrobe and aid you in being able to create more outfits.

3. Watch out for the fit

Only get items that fit your lifestyle now. Avoid purchasing clothing that will look better when you loose a couple of pounds. Chances are you will not reach out for them until you really loose those pounds. If you make it kudos to you but focus on getting items that look good and make you feel great right now.

4. Do you really need it?

Avoid buying clothing pieces similar to what you already own, unless you tend to wear similar garments on a  daily basis, as in black blazers. Purchasing a similar dress to one you already own will ultimately mean you will no longer reach out for the other one as often.

5. Plan out your sales purchases

Clothes bought on discount are normally purchased on a whim.  Prior to the sales make a note of the items you would like to get your hands on and look out for them. Avoid impulse buys.

6. Wear it within one week

How excited you are to don out the new ensemble is quite indicative of whether you will end up wearing it or not. If you haven't worn your purchases during the first week you're still in time to return them.

7. Stay within season

As tempting as it may be, avoid getting clothing that you will not wear this season. Chances are by the time the next season approaches you will no longer be excited about the purchase you made several months ago. Its fit might also have changed and your tastes may have evolved but now it's too late to return them.

8. Don't forget to declutter

Make it a point to go through your wardrobe every once in a while to declutter and get rid of pieces you either no longer reach out for or even garments that are being worn out. I normally donate any items I no longer use to the Happy Paws Charity shop in Santa Venera.

Happy Shopping!

Royal Apothic Hand Cream

I first laid my eyes on this product while browsing SpaceNK in London. The packing was what first drew me in and after I tried the tester I was sold. Later on I discovered this is one of Victoria Beckham's favorite beauty products and it is no secret why.

The scent I picked out is Holland Park.

The formula is light, moisturizing and is easily absorbed. It doesn't feel greasy nor sticky and the floral scent is delicate and not overpowering. I love applying it right before bed. The packing is lovely too, it comes in a vintage looking tube.

The Royal Apothic hand cream range is available at SpaceNK
